Voluntary Approaches for Promoting Healthier Indoor Environments in Canada

The Challenge

  • To develop a comprehensive review of the State of the Indoor Environment in Canada.

  • To identify promising voluntary approaches for promoting the creation of healthier indoor environments in Canada.

Our Approach

CULLBRIDGE was invited by Pollution Probe to co-author this report. Together, we secured funding and participation from key government and industry organizations, and carried out the project. The resulting report included:

  • An In-depth review of the legal aspects of indoor air quality

  • An analysis of market drivers and barriers

  • An in-depth review of twenty carefully selected voluntary initiatives

  • Expert interviews

  • An analysis of barriers and key elements for success

  • A proposal for a national strategy emphasizing voluntary initiatives

Collaborators

This was a joint project of CULLBRIDGE and Pollution Probe / the Summerhill Group.  We also appreciate the contribution of Joseph Castrilli in reviewing relevant legal aspects.

Impact

This project provided the foundation for the Healthy Indoors Partnership, a national, multi-stakeholder partnership for creating healthy indoor environments in Canada.

Our Partners Speak for Us

"When I was looking for someone to help us with our comprehensive report "Voluntary Measures for Achieving Healthy Indoor Environments", I thought immediately of Cullbridge because of their Characterization report. That report was ground breaking. It showed a deep understanding of the industry, tremendous foresight, and a remarkable ability to synthesize many complex and disparate factors.  They have brought these same qualities to our joint project."

Ian Morton, Director, Environmental Health, Pollution Probe
