This section provides an overview of some representative projects we have
conducted relating specifically to climate change. You can find many more
climate change adaptation- and mitigation -related projects by also looking at
our air, buildings, community planning, transportation, waste and water projects
(see topic index in the left hand column.) Using the annotated alphabetical list below, you can select project
summaries, and/or link directly to some examples of our work. If you
prefer, you can also select projects by service
or area of focus
Government of Canada's Climate
Change Process
-
Cullbridge
is currently helping to draft the outreach strategy for the
Community Challenge stream of the Government of Canada's One
Tonne Challenge
-
Selected
to participate in a panel of international social marketing
experts providing advice to the federal government on the
One-Tonne Challenge.
-
Researched
consumers’ willingness to pay for products that mitigate
climate change (such as high efficiency appliances.) This
included a shopper intercept survey of 700 individuals. (In
collaboration with the Summerhill Group.)
-
Helped
the Government of Canada engage its staff in climate change
prevention, through the Federal House In Order initiative.
(In collaboration with Enviros-RIS)
-
Based on a literature review and the documentation of related case
studies,
we developed a strategy for supporting municipal-level climate change PEO in Canada. Working
closely with other contributors to the Municipalities Issue Table Options Paper, two
key PEO measures were suggested and a consistent PEO strategy was applied to each of
Table's other recommended measures. (In collabration with the
LURA Group and GLPi.).
Based on a literature and expert interviews that identified
Canadian and
international PEO best practices in sustainable transportation, we
helped develop options were
recommended for the Public Education and Outreach Issue Table. (In collaboration
with McKenzie-Mohr
Associates and the
LURA Group.)
-
Nation-wide focus groups and interviews were used to identify barriers to participation
by individuals in targeted greenhouse gas reduction activities. This served as a
foundation for suggesting related PEO options for the Public Education and Outreach
Issue Table. (In collabration with McKenzie-Mohr
Associates and the
LURA Group.)
Other Climate Change Projects

Tools of Change Web
site Founded on the principles of community-based social
marketing, this site links a growing bank of case studies and ‘lessons
learned’ with planning guides and worksheets, to help program planners and
implementers learn more quickly from their collective
experience. It
highlights approaches that have been particularly successful so that they
can be replicated and built upon, as well as "turnkey" programs
that have been ‘pre-packaged’ for use by others. The site is full of
examples that are presented to each user in a customized manner, according
to his or her interest profile. Users can save their planning work between
sessions, and can download the resulting draft plans and work summaries to
common word processors for further refinement. The site currently includes
38 full length climate change mitigation case studies, and six full-length
climate change adaptation case studies.
